This
course is an introduction to the profession of nursing.
It is designed to train health care professionals
who will provide basic care to patients. Students
will be trained to give basic care with emphasis on
skills such as taking vital signs with accuracy, bed
making and assisting patients with activities of daily
living. Students graduating from this program can
expect to be placed in Long-Term Care Facilities,
Hospitals or with Private Home Care Agencies.
Upon successful completion of this training students
are certified and registered with the State of Georgia
as Certified Nursing Assistants.
The
Patient Care Technician course is designed to give Nursing Assistants the opportunity
to acquire advanced clinical skills. Students are trained through a combination
of clinical/laboratory and classroom sessions in advanced skills such as Venipuncture,
EKG, catheterization, wound care, recording of patient information, patient assessment
and other related patient care tasks. Students graduating from the Patient Care
Technician training program can expect to find employment in Hospitals, Rehabilitation
Centers or with Placement Agencies.
Upon
completion of training students are required to challenge a National Certification
Examination, which provides them with a certificate to practice as Patient Care,
Phlebotomy or EKG Technicians.
This program is a combination of Phlebotomy and EKG.
Students learn to function in the laboratory and physician
office. They learn fundamental principles of bacteriology,
physiology, EKG testing and interpretation, blood collection,
color coding, charting and recording of patients results
and other skills related to laboratory procedures. The
Phlebotomy and EKG Technician can expect to find employment
in physician's offices, laboratory or hospitals independently
or through placement agencies.
Upon completion
of training students are required to challenge the
National Certification Examination.
This course is designed to train Health Care providers
to monitor patients during the hemodialysis process.
Students learn hands on use of the COBE 2Rx and Fresenius
2008E machines, patient monitoring, cannulation, the
anatomy and physiology of the kidney and the treatment
of a diseased kidney. The clinical laboratory training
is designed to provide students with the opportunity
to utilize the knowledge acquired in the classroom to
function effectively in the laboratory and to set up
and operate the dialysis machines.

Students are trained to perform computerized medical billing with speed and accuracy.
In this program, students are taught medical terminology, the use and application
of medical codes, medical ethics, records, third party reimbursement and obtaining
patient information necessary for successful claims management. Students are exposed
to Medicaid, Medicare and Private insurances. Graduates from this program
can expect to find employment in physician offices, hospital claims departments
or with private medical claims contractors.
This program can
also serve to give students the opportunity to learn
the skills necessary to start their home based Medical
Billing business.
Upon
completion students may challenge the National Certification Examination.

This program is designed to train students in the proper
surgical ' asepsis, before during and after surgical
intervention. Students are taught to recognize basic
instrument sets'-major, minor and plastic. The set up
of both major tray and back table, the maintenance of
instruments, equipment and supplies during surgery.
They are taught to function efficiently as a member
of the Surgical Team. Students graduating from this
program can expect to find employment in hospitals (main
operating room, same day surgery, labor and delivery
or outpatient surgery center) and with Physicians who
do in-office surgeries.
Students are required
to take the National Certification Exam upon successful
completion of this program.

This program is designed to train students to function safely and effectively
while assisting pharmacists to dispense prescribed drugs to patients. Students
are introduced to the more commonly prescribed medications. They become proficient
in utilizing the Physicians Desk Reference (PDR) to identify drug classes, brand
or generic drug names and the actions or side effects of those drugs. The law
governing drug distribution, and overview of medial terminology and abbreviations.
Upon completion of this program students can expect to find employment with area
pharmacies or hospital pharmacy departments.
Students
are required to take the National Certification examination for Pharmacy Technician
upon completion of the training.

This
program is designed to assist students in their preparation for the Board of Nursing
Exam. Passing the NCLEX depends on many factors and our goal is to assist you
to pass at your first sitting. Students acquire knowledge in Test
taking skills Application of knowledge Students are given ample
opportunity to review pertinent areas of study. Diagnostic and performance analysis
tests will provide students with the information on areas they need to focus on.
Computers are available for students use to practice exam questions and the instructors
are available for one-on-one sessions.
This
program is designed to train the student to function in the medical office as
a front and back office assistant. Students will be able to utilize their knowledge
and abilities in assisting the Medical Doctor to deliver quality patient care.
Students develop basic skills in clinical laboratory, emergency and minor surgical
procedures, basic pharmacology, hematology and medication administration. The
Clinical Medical Assistant can expect to find employment in Physicians' offices,
hospitals or laboratories upon completion of this program.
